Sharing your concerns

If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child please inform one or more of the Safeguarding Team immediately . They will help you to complete the relevant documentation and take any 'next steps' necessary.

If you feel a child is in immediate danger you can contact the police,  or the MASH team on  08451551071 directly.

If a child tells us something in school we:

Listen, accept and use the Tell me more, Explain and Describe (TED) approach.

Reassure the child that they have done the right thing by telling us.

Inform the child of what we are going to do.

Make accurate notes using the child's actual words and note down any body language you noticed.

If there are injuries, record on the body map

We DON’T:

Promise confidentiality, investigate, interrupt or ask leading questions.

Our Safeguarding Team are:

Emma Bennett - Designated Safeguarding Lead

Kelly Conibear - Deputy Safeguarding Officer

Kate White - Deputy Safeguarding Officer

Operation Encompass

We are very pleased that we are now linked to the Operation Encompass Scheme.

Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education, early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.

The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.

Further information about the scheme is included in the poster and letter below and also on the Operation Encompass website: www.operationencompass.org
